Romans – The Play Part 8, Ep 1 – Finding Complete Security in Christ

In this powerful teaching from Romans 8, Gene Edwards explores one of the most encouraging truths in all of Scripture: God is for you.

Many believers struggle with guilt, insecurity, fear of failure, and a lingering sense of condemnation. Romans 8 answers those fears with a breathtaking declaration of God’s love and commitment toward His people. Through Romans 8:28-39, this message reveals how God works all things together for good and demonstrates that nothing can separate us from His love in Christ Jesus.

The teaching walks through the believer’s journey from helplessness, sin, spiritual failure, and condemnation into grace, sonship, freedom, and life in Christ. Gene emphasizes that God acted on behalf of humanity when humanity could do nothing for itself. While we were helpless, sinners, enemies of God, and under the sentence of death, God intervened through Jesus Christ.

Special attention is given to Paul’s declaration: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” This passage becomes the foundation for understanding Christian assurance. The believer’s security is not based on personal performance, religious achievement, or the ability to keep laws. Instead, it rests entirely on God’s initiative, God’s grace, and God’s purpose.

This Romans 8 study also explores:

  • Freedom from condemnation
  • Deliverance from the law
  • Victory over spiritual insecurity
  • Life in Christ instead of life in Adam
  • Adoption as sons and daughters of God
  • The indwelling Holy Spirit
  • God’s eternal purpose for believers
  • The certainty of future glory

Throughout the message, listeners are reminded that God’s love is steadfast and unchanging. No failure, weakness, fear, circumstance, power, or spiritual force can separate believers from the love of God found in Christ Jesus.

If you have ever struggled with feelings of unworthiness, spiritual defeat, or doubt about God’s acceptance, this teaching offers a fresh look at the liberating truth of the gospel. Romans 8 presents a God who is relentlessly committed to His people and who has gone to extraordinary lengths to secure their salvation and future inheritance.

Watch and discover why the Apostle Paul could confidently declare that believers are more than conquerors through Christ—and why the greatest answer to insecurity is knowing that God is truly for you.

And suddenly, everything worked out for good for those who were His. Do you know why it worked out for them? Because God was for them.

I mean, do you understand that in that moment, among those people in that great arena, there were some whom God was for? He was for them. God was for you, Brother David, that day, and everything worked out. You got out of there alive.

That’s right. Alive. Praise the Lord.

‘But Gene, Gene, I have been so ungodly. You don’t understand how helpless I was. Helpless—and I was God’s enemy. I mean, I was His enemy. And you don’t understand what a terrible, terrible sinner I was. And I was facing His wrath. Ungodly. Sinner. An enemy of God…and helpless.  Utterly helpless. Facing the wrath of God. Gene, I still feel it—when I feel so unworthy, and unrighteous, and unholy, and so sinful, and so helpless.’

All things work together for good. Your being a sinner worked for good. Your unholiness worked for good. Your helplessness really worked for good. And the fact that you had made yourself an enemy of God worked in your favor. Praise the Lord.

Because you know what He did? He reconciled you to Himself. He brought reconciliation.

‘But I didn’t do anything about that!”

That’s right. You didn’t do anything about your unholiness, nor your sinfulness, nor the fact that you were an enemy, or that you were helpless. The fact of the matter is: in that terrible state, God was for you. Now I don’t think you understand. I’m looking at your faces—and you don’t understand that you sat there in this terrible, terrible situation, and you had a God who was totally on your side, and was willing to do absolutely anything, anything, for you.

“Well, say more than that.” Alright. Amen. And so, when the smoke cleared, you know what had happened? You’d become the recipient of grace now and glory later. There’s nothing there except the element of faith, and yet in this terrible situation, everything worked out for good. Better than good. And the reason was…the reason you got that grace, and the reason you’ll get that glory…

Stand up. Tell these people why. It worked out for good because why?

Because God was for you, Vicki! God, at that moment – God was pulling for you! That’s why it worked out. God was pulling for Vicki.

Praise the Lord. Alright. Do you understand that we’re talking specifically about you, just you, nobody else? That in that moment, God was for you. Yeah, that really is something.
