A Revelation of the Church - Unveiling Christ's Bride • Sep 01st 1994

The Most Beautiful Girl in the World Part 1 – Christa, Ecclesia, and the Bride of Christ

In this deeply moving and imaginative message, Gene Edwards introduces listeners to what he calls “the most beautiful girl in the world”—a poetic and theological portrait of Christa, the Ecclesia, the bride of Christ.

Rather than presenting the Church as an institution or organization, Edwards invites us to encounter her as a living person—beloved, chosen, pursued, and united with Christ beyond space and time. Through narrative, scripture imagery, and reflective storytelling, he unfolds a sweeping vision of the Church that stretches from eternity past to resurrection life and beyond.

Drawing on themes from John 17, the Song of Songs, the Gospels, and Revelation, this teaching explores the profound mystery of union with Christ. Edwards speaks of Christa as one with Him in eternity, one with Him in death, and one with Him in resurrection—a bride formed in Him before creation and revealed throughout Scripture.

The message unfolds in two movements. First, Edwards introduces the concept of Christa and challenges common assumptions about the Church. Then, speaking in Christa’s voice, he tells her story across time: as a Jewish maiden meeting Christ, as believers gathered across the ancient world, and as the radiant city descending in Revelation.

At its heart, this sermon calls listeners away from individual-centered spirituality toward a larger vision: to see themselves not as the center of the story, but as participants in something far greater—the beloved corporate bride of Christ.

Whether you are familiar with Gene Edwards or encountering his work for the first time, this message offers a profound meditation on love, identity, unity, and the mystery of the Church as the dwelling place of God.

How can anyone be so neglected? We live in a world where we are supposed to know the bible, and most of the NT was written to THAT girl. Most of the NT was written to THAT girl. And most of the NT not written to you, it was written to that beautiful girl. Written to her, about her, and for her.

That’s not all.

Don’t begin thinking in terms that you are that girl, but try your best to remember that you are PART of this girl.  Whatever is true of that girl is in part true of you, in that you’re part of her, but do NOT allow yourself on center stage.

One of the things we are going to do is to NOT talk about you. We are going to talk about this girl.

Just kind of listen with two ears, listen to your heart, listen to your spirit, because it’s not going to make a lot of sense listening with your head. This is not for your head, it’s for your heart, your spirit.

Brothers and sisters, on a rare appearance, I want you to meet the most beautiful girl that ever was.

I want you to know something else. I’m in love with her. I’m not sure of this, but I think I’d die for her.  I work for her. Night and day. And she is the passion of my life. And I see her lots of times. I happen to be French, and it helps. And I happen to have dyslexia. And I can’t remember verse references. And that helps. Somebody once said, if you don’t know what John 14 is about, you’re not saved. I cannot ever remember which 14 is 15 or 15 is 14. It helps. I’ve seen this gal. I can describe her to you.

We don’t know her, but we ought to be in love with her.

She ought to be the center of our life. We’ve got to meet this girl again.

Christa, the one who has been proposed to by your glorious Lord and Savior, who is going to be his wife, and in some ways already is, because we are not dealing with space and time. She is outside of space and time because she is a divine entity.

Christa speaking –

In many ways, I am as much Christ as Christ is, because I was in him before creation. And that was before sin, and before the fall. There was nothing inside him, except himself and me.
