PSALM 45 - A HEART THAT BUBBLES WITH CHRIST • Jan 14th 1972
Psalm 45 reveals a beautiful picture of Jesus Christ the King, His Bride, and a heart overflowing with worship. In this Bible teaching, Gene Edwards explores the spiritual meaning of Psalm 45 and shows how genuine praise begins when something of Christ “bubbles” up from deep within the believer.
“My heart is overflowing with a good theme.”
Rather than approaching the Psalms merely as passages to analyze, Gene encourages believers to discover the experience behind them. The psalmist’s heart was stirred by something of the Lord. He received a theme, spoke it forth, and offered it back to the King in praise.
Psalm 45 then unfolds as an extraordinary vision of Christ.
The King is praised for who He is—fairer than the sons of men and full of grace. He is also praised for what He has accomplished: He fought, He conquered, and He continues riding forward in victory. His throne is forever, He loves righteousness, and He has been anointed with the oil of joy.
But the Psalm does not end with the King.
At His right hand stands the Queen, providing a powerful picture of Christ and His Bride, the Church. Gene explores the Queen clothed in gold, the spiritual significance of her embroidered garment, and the transformation necessary for the Bride to be prepared for her King.
The message reaches an especially important truth: the Church is not only called to praise Jesus Christ. As Christ works His nature and righteousness into His people, the Bride herself becomes a praise to the King.
This teaching will encourage Christians who want to understand Psalm 45, grow in worship, discover more of the Bride of Christ, and experience a deeper relationship with Jesus.
