No More Guilt: Freedom From Condemnation in Christ

How can a Christian overcome guilt and condemnation? In this powerful Bible teaching, Gene Edwards explains why those who are in Christ do not have to live under the crushing weight of guilt, shame, and spiritual condemnation.

Beginning with Adam and Eve in Genesis, Gene explores one of the earliest pictures of God’s mercy: after the fall, Adam could not cover his own nakedness. God Himself provided the covering. Gene connects this moment to the work of Jesus Christ and the profound truth that our acceptance before God rests not in our ability to make ourselves worthy, but in what Christ has accomplished for us.

The message then moves to Cain and Abel and an important distinction in the Christian life. Freedom from condemnation does not mean pretending we have no need of God. There is a difference between living under guilt and approaching God with humility.

Gene points to the apostle Paul as a remarkable example. Paul could declare that there is “no condemnation” in Christ while simultaneously growing in his awareness of God’s mercy and his complete dependence upon the Lord. Freedom from guilt did not make Paul proud. It made him increasingly aware of the greatness of God’s grace.

This message explores:

• Why Christians can struggle with guilt even after receiving forgiveness
• God’s covering of Adam and Eve
• Cain and Abel and what their offerings reveal
• The difference between guilt and genuine humility
• The blood of Jesus Christ and an accusing conscience
• Paul’s freedom from condemnation
• How believers can resist spiritual accusation
• Why grace should produce both boldness and humility

Gene’s central challenge is clear: believers should refuse condemnation while remaining deeply humble before God.

You can be bold because of Christ—not because you have become worthy through your own efforts, but because your confidence rests in His finished work.
