What does it really mean to have freedom in Christ? In this message, Gene Edwards explores the Book of Galatians and challenges Christians to reconsider legalism, religious expectations, and the way the Christian life was intended to be lived within the Body of Christ.
Drawing from Paul’s letter to the Galatians, Gene examines one of the central themes of the New Testament: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” He contrasts the freedom found in Christ with a Christian life built around rules, expectations, religious performance, and the constant effort to please God through works.
But this message goes beyond personal Christian freedom.
Gene argues that Galatians must be understood in its original setting—as a letter written to churches and communities of believers. Rather than seeing the Christian life primarily as an individual pursuit, he presents the church as a living expression of Jesus Christ: a place where believers can experience grace, acceptance, fellowship, healing, spiritual growth, and freedom together.
What happens when Christians stop trying to earn God’s acceptance?
What happens when believers are free to fail, grow, love one another, bear one another’s burdens, and experience Christ together?
Gene describes this kind of freedom as essential to genuine church life: “Freedom is the oxygen of the Church of Jesus Christ.”
This teaching will especially resonate with Christians interested in:

• The Book of Galatians
• Christian legalism and grace
• Walking in the Spirit
• The Body of Christ
• Organic church and church life
• Christian community
• Spiritual growth
• Experiencing Jesus Christ
• New Testament church life
