Cities of the Old Man: Enoch, Babel, Sodom & Egypt

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob never lived in a house—they sought a city built by God. In this message, Gene Edwards asks us to consider the profound difference between God’s eternal building plan and the temporary cities man keeps erecting. He traces the unbroken line of God’s intention, showing how He is ultimately after a city unlike any other in the universe, where man is blended and mingled with God. Satan, however, has consistently created counterfeits, symbolized by the “city of religion” (Babylon) and the “city of sin” (Sodom), which believers must utterly flee. Gene Edwards challenges us to embrace a portable life—the life of the tent—refusing to settle in man’s systems and allowing Christ’s life to be imparted and built up within us, regardless of the cost. We must be a people of the altar and the tent, prepared to move when the Lord moves.
