Christ Before Creation: Discovering God the All in All

These are not shallow words, and this is why we pay such close attention to that celebration, because when we delve into it as we do right now, we begin to see a colossal kaleidoscope, panorama, drama, collage, a portrait, a painting that goes from eternity past and disappears into eternity future; the true mind of the living God. Get ready for it because it will…that thought of God will surprise you.

I’m gonna say it again: when He came and began speaking on this earth, it was as though He had gathered up all that He ever pictured to us in the Old Testament, all of it, came to the central issue of the Old Covenant and began speaking to us in words that were the thought of God Himself, for He was God Himself. Watch what He was thinking about and stand in awe.

Let the Christian faith bow its knee to this Christ. In theology, He’s called the cosmological Christ, the Christ of creation. I want to say, bow your knee before the Christ who is before creation. He had a thought, and He shared with absolutely no one. Oh, He did a lot before He made creation. It’s so interesting that He did so much at the very moment of creation.

From the foundations of the world, from the foundations of the world, from the foundations of the world, at the time when He said, “Let,” but oh, had He been busy getting ready for that glorious moment. I want to say it again—Christ the All, Christ the All, God the All. Nothing but God, God in fellowship with Himself, God in counsel with Himself, in Ephesians 1:11, and God counseled with Himself. And Genesis 1: “Let us make man,” and He counseled with Himself in the Godhead long before He did anything. He counseled with Himself, and He had a thought, and we’re gonna find it.

What is it like, God fellowshipping with Himself, the Father and the Son, by means of the Holy Spirit, fellowshipping together throughout all eternity? What was it like? What’s it comparable to? Give us an illustration and let us learn to enter into that fellowship.

For John, in his old age, said, “I’ve written the Gospels, and I’ve written three letters, and I have spoken these things to you, that you may have fellowship with me, John, so you can sit down with me and understand. For I turned around and I have entered into the fellowship of the Godhead, and I, John, have fellowshipped with the Godhead. I have entered into the fellowship of the Godhead, and I’ve written all these things, spoken all these things, done all these things, lived all these things, and shared in fellowship with God —with Christ, the great Christ before creation and the Christ of the cosmos.

Let us revere the Christ who was before creation, as we revere Christ of creation. I have written these things to you that you may have fellowship with me, John, for my fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

When I am dead and gone, as I probably am now that you’re listening to this, the whole heart and soul of my ministry was to show God’s people how to enter into that fellowship with God. My writings and my preaching have been so that you could understand what I am saying and speak with the same voice and experience that I have had, that you may carry on and have that fellowship with God.

Every year, I have held one conference, sacred and as holy as it can get, with the request of every human being who ever entered it, that it never be written down. Never. Too holy for men to go read it and say, “Hmm.” Huh. Six and a half days to learn how to enter into the fellowship of God, the All in All…and that’s exactly where we’re headed.

I repeat this question, John: what was it like to enter into the fellowship of God, the All in All? What is it like to be lost into the fellowship of Christ before the eternals, before eternity, when God was all, when there was not even room for eternity, except that God Himself was eternal?

God, the All in All, is where we began. Before Abraham I was. Before Abraham, I am. Before angels? Before principalities? Before cherubim? Cherubim and seraphim? Before sin? Before principalities and powers in heavenly places, before the heavenlies, before there was an earth, before there was a star, I am. I’m All.

Nothing precedes “before Abraham, I am.” Before “Let there be,” before the creation of heaven and earth, before death, before Satan, before a host of innumerable angels, before everything. God Himself is the Kingdom; not the Kingdom of God, but God the All who rules over nothing but that which is God.
