You cannot live the Christian life by your own effort. In this challenging Christian message, Gene Edwards explains why the Christian life is not primarily about religious activity, Bible knowledge, rules, or trying harder—but about knowing Jesus Christ and living by His divine life.

Speaking to college students at Berry College in 2004, Gene Edwards challenges many assumptions about modern Christianity and asks a radical question: What if the way Christians have been taught to practice their faith is missing something essential?

Drawing from Titus and the New Testament, Gene explores the believer’s spiritual identity, God’s eternal purpose, the life of Christ within us, and what it means to know the Lord experientially rather than merely intellectually.

Rather than being discouraging, Gene presents this as liberating news. Christianity was never intended to be an endless attempt to fulfill religious expectations through human strength. The believer has received something far greater—the life of God Himself.

Gene also challenges the deeply individualistic way Christianity is often practiced. Prayer, spiritual growth, fellowship with Christ, and the Christian life were never intended to be solitary pursuits. The New Testament reveals believers joined together in a living expression of the church, pursuing Jesus Christ corporately and helping one another know Him.
